Choose the source PDF
Select the upload button and choose a PDF from your device, or drag and drop the file into the upload area.
Wait for file validation
FileGrip checks that the uploaded file is a supported PDF and confirms that it is within the allowed upload-size limit.
Review the first-page preview
The browser attempts to create a preview of the first PDF page. Use this preview to confirm that the correct document was selected.
Check the detected page count
Review the page total displayed in the file information area. This gives you an idea of how many PNG images will be generated.
Review the expected result
Each PDF page will become one PNG image. FileGrip will package all generated page images into one ZIP file.
Start the PDF to PNG conversion
Select the conversion button. Keep the page open while your browser uploads the PDF to FileGrip.
Wait while the job is processed
After upload, the job may move through queued, processing, and finalizing stages. FileGrip renders each page individually.
Allow the ZIP to be prepared
Once page rendering is complete, FileGrip packages the PNG images together into a ZIP archive.
Download the PNG ZIP
When the result card appears, select the download button and save the ZIP archive to your device.
Extract the ZIP archive
Open the downloaded archive using your device’s built-in ZIP utility or another trusted archive application.
Review the generated PNG files

Can PNG preserve transparency from a PDF?
PDF transparency may be flattened during page rendering. The output can include an opaque page background depending on the source and renderer.
Can I edit the PNG files afterward?
Yes. Extract the ZIP and open the images in a compatible image editor.
Can I combine the PNG files into a new PDF?

Will the original PDF be changed?
No. FileGrip processes an uploaded copy. The source PDF stored on your device is not modified.
Why might the ZIP be larger than the original PDF?
PDFs can store text, vector graphics, and compressed images efficiently. Rendering every page into a full lossless PNG image can create much more data.
How long does PDF to PNG take?
Time depends on the PDF size, page count, page complexity, upload speed, rendering workload, ZIP packaging time, and worker availability.
Why do long PDFs take more time?
Every page must be rendered separately and all resulting PNG files must then be packaged into a ZIP archive.
What happens if I close the page while uploading?
The browser upload can be interrupted. Keep the page open until FileGrip creates the backend processing job.
Can processing continue after upload?
Yes. Once the backend job has been created, queued processing may continue independently of the original browser upload.
Can the job be restored after a refresh?
The backend job status may be restored using the stored job reference. The original local PDF object and preview cannot be restored.
Why is the original preview missing after refresh?
The preview is generated locally from the browser File object. Browser file objects are not saved in local storage or in the page URL.
Are uploaded files stored permanently?
FileGrip is designed for temporary processing. Uploaded files and generated results expire according to the current file-deletion policy.
Does FileGrip use uploaded PDFs to train AI models?

Should I keep the original PDF?
